This week PC users can experience the new CPU chip from Intel which is available in South Africa. However, currently it retails at quite a reasonable price.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0Intel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s i7 or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Nehalem\u00e2\u20ac\u009d became available in the USA last week and India and Japan yesterday, and has since proved to be an excellent performer.<\/p>\n

The i7 features impressive features such as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Quickpath interconnect\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0(QPI) which is Intel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s answer to AMD\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s HyperTransport. The chip also supports an integrated memory controller and L3 cache, similar to what AMD have been offering for years.It seems that it was made to answer some questions posed by Intel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s biggest rival AMD, which is currently battling to stay a float.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0The integrated memory controller along with QPI and triple channel DDR3 memory has resulted in greatly improved memory bandwidth. This will make a noticeable difference to a wide range of applications.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0The Core i7 makes use of the latest 45nm processing standard, which greatly improves power consumption, heat generation and performance.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0Turbo Mode<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nehalem also features the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Turbo Mode\u00e2\u20ac\u009d feature which allows the CPU to monitor and customize how many cores it uses, as well as how fast the CPU needs to be running at, depending on the application.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0This will allow for controlled power consumption and heat generation, which will lead to a more<\/p>\n
