The change will come into effect at the end of the year. AMD purchased ATI 5 years ago for $5.4 billion. The reason was to gain traction in the graphics and chipset markets which have been dominated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/search\/?search=Intel\" target=\"_blank\">Intel<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/search\/?search=NVIDIA\" target=\"_blank\">NVIDIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>AMD believe that ATI is no longer needed to convince users to purchase ATI graphics cards and that AMD has a better brand value. Also AMD has had to market 2 brands and will only be marketing one which will significantly reduce marketing budgets. At the moment ATI have 2 brand ranges available to the public, namely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/search\/?search=ATI+Radeon\" target=\"_blank\">the Radeon<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/search\/?search=ATI+FirePro\" target=\"_blank\">FirePro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/categories\/129\/Graphics+Cards\/\" target=\"_blank\">graphics cards<\/a> will be featuring AMD as the manufacturer as existing product will continue to feature ATI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.pricecheck.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/AMD-Logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-377\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.pricecheck.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/AMD-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"351\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AMD announced this week that they are going to retire the ATI name from its graphics cards range.
