Huawei has announced the launch of the latest member of its flagship Mate series in South Africa, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro<\/a>, including some standout features to distinguish the device from its competitors. Key specs<\/h4>\n

The smartphone comes with a\u00a06.74-inch FullView Display, a screen resolution of 2,616 x 1,212 pixels and a high refresh\u00a0rate of 120Hz and 1440Hz PWM dimming, to reduce flickering and relieve eye fatigue.<\/p>\n

It features 8GBs of RAM, and the option of a 256GB or 512GB model, and runs on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G chipset.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Mate 50 Pro packs a 4,700 mAh battery. It offers 66W SuperCharge wired and 50W SuperCharge wireless fast-charging solutions to strike an optimal balance between battery life, fast charging and portability.<\/p>\n

Camera<\/h4>\n

The Mate 50 Pro features Huawei\u2019s Ultra Aperture Xmage Camera<\/a>, which boasts the first-ever 10-scale adjustable physical aperture on a smartphone. The smart aperture adjusts to match the aperture size with the scene and shooting scenario identified in Auto mode. Switching to Professional mode allows you to manually adjust the depth of field and degree of blur.<\/p>\n

The Ultra Aperture Camera comes equipped with an F1.4 large aperture, working with the XD Fusion Pro image engine and high light intake to set the image brightness, light and shadow details, as well as cold and warm comparisons.<\/p>\n

The camera also features a periscope telephoto camera that supports a zoom range of up to 200x, along with a wide-angle macro camera.<\/p>\n

Durability<\/h4>\n

The company emphasised that durability is key with the Mate 50 Pro<\/a>, and the device is protected by the new proprietary \u201cKunlun Glass\u201d, which boosts drop resistance by 10 times. This is verified by the first-ever five-star glass drop resistance certification from Switzerland\u2019s SGS, making it the first smartphone to ever achieve this certification. The smartphone supports IP68-rated water resistance of up to 6 metres underwater, allowing it to easily handle wet and dusty environments.<\/p>\n

Emergency Mode<\/h4>\n

Moreover, with an innovative low-battery Emergency Mode that activates when the battery level falls to 1%, SuperEnergy Boosting enables the Huawei Mate 50 Pro to extend standby time by three hours or 12 minutes of call time.<\/p>\n

Design<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Huawei Mate 50 Pro has two different types of rear covers, namely glass and vegan leather. The glass cover is available in two colours, Silver and Black, which gives the phone a distinct and elegant finish. The vegan leather version comes in Orange and is inspired by the radiant orange rays of the sun.<\/p>\n

Price and Availability<\/h4>\n
