South Africans have a soft spot for this staple of the\u00a0Volkswagen line-up and there&#8217;s no doubt the eighth iteration of the popular Golf will have South African car lovers lining up to own one.<\/p>\n<p>The eighth-generation Golf will land in South Africa late in 2020 and will be offered\u00a0in five-door form only. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carmag.co.za\/news\/new-models\/new-volkswagen-golf-8-official-details-and-more-images-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CARmag.co.za<\/a>, the South African\u00a0line up of the new hatchback will once again include a Golf 1,4 TSI variant,\u00a0Golf GTI derivative, and the range-topping Golf R model (all with\u00a0VW&#8217;s DSG dual-clutch transmission as standard).\u00a0VW South Africa has also revealed that the GTI-badged model will be the first Golf 8 derivative to arrive in South Africa with rest of the line up following at a later stage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26228 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VW_Golf8-300x180.jpeg\" alt=\"VW Golf 8\" width=\"701\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VW_Golf8-300x180.jpeg 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VW_Golf8-768x461.jpeg 768w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VW_Golf8-336x200.jpeg 336w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VW_Golf8.jpeg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inside the new Golf 8, drivers will enjoy fully digital displays and controls, with touch buttons and touch sliders controlling the\u00a0infotainment system and other vital controls. The dashboard of the new Golf vehicles will all include a\u00a010,25-inch instrument cluster and an 8,25-inch infotainment touchscreen to make life inside the new Golf 8 a breeze.\u00a0In addition, a head-up display will be optionally available.<\/p>\n<p>While local specifications have yet to be determined, in Europe the familiar Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trim levels will be replaced by Golf, Life and Style versions.
