While every product under the sun seems to get a ‘Black Friday sale<\/a>‘ sticker slapped on it around the 29th of November, it’s good to remember that while many stores feature discounts on the big-name items, they’re not necessarily the best deals. For Black Friday 2019, we’re here to help you get to grips with what categories or product pools to buy from in order to nab the best prices.<\/p>\n

Electronics<\/h3>\n

While it would be fantastic for the prices of the brand-new, top-of-the-range laptops<\/a>, smartphones<\/a>, and gadgets to be slashed it half, the reality is that it’s very unlikely. Even though the latest gadgets will be on every poster around town, it’s best to look for tech from a year or so ago, and also keep an eye out for the smaller brands too. For example, it’s extremely unlikely that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be half price, but you may very-well find a Huawei P20<\/a> for a good deal.<\/p>\n

Gaming<\/h3>\n

Traditionally, Black Friday has always been great for gamers. Prices on consoles and games get knocked down a fair bit, and this year should be particularly interesting. The Xbox One<\/a>, PS4<\/a>, and Switch<\/a> have been out for a few years now, and with the next-gen consoles on the horizon in 2020\/2021, it’s likely that the current-gen will see a huge price-cut by the Black Friday period. Games<\/a> from a year or so ago also tend to receive a notable price-trimming, so keep an eye out for one of the titles you missed from 2018 or 2017.<\/p>\n

DVDs and Blue Rays<\/h3>\n

DVDs and Blu-rays<\/a> are already on the more affordable side of things these days, so if you’re a movie buff, there’ll be some incredible deals this year. You’ll likely be able to pick up both new and old DVDs and Blu-rays at arguably the lowest prices that you will see them offered for all year. So whether you’re looking for Avengers: Endgame<\/em> on Blu-ray or you’re looking for some classics like The Godfather<\/em>, Rocky<\/em>, or Batman<\/em> boxsets, keep an eye out for them.<\/p>\n

Travel and Flight Packages<\/h3>\n

While not a physical item, travel packages and flights are very much a part of modern Black Friday shopping. Buying a holiday package during this period can be fruitful, and keep an eye out for some flight specials<\/a> from the local airlines, as trips to and from Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, and other major cities are often discounted.<\/p>\n
