This gourmet noodle bowl recipe will inspire you to stay home and spice up your winter with a warm and delicious noodle bowl\u00a0 in the comfort of your own home. Inspired by Castle Milk Stout, J\u2019Something\u2019s super easy-short rib and udon noodle bowl is the ideal winter treat for you and your family to enjoy as the weather gets cooler.<\/p>\n<p>J\u2019Something says the key to getting loads of flavour in your broth it to slow cook the short rib in the stout beer &#8211; this will give you a rich, full-bodied flavour and will also help to tenderise the beautifully.<\/p>\n<h4>Short Rib and Udon Noodle Bowl<\/h4>\n<p>Difficulty: Very easy<br \/>\nServes: 4<br \/>\nHands-on Time: 15 minutes<br \/>\nTotal time: 5 hours<br \/>\nOven Temperature: 180\u00b0C<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.5kg beef short ribs, cut into 5cm pieces<br \/>\n4 Tbsps. fresh ginger, finely chopped<br \/>\n\u00bc cup soy sauce<br \/>\n6 cloves of garlic, finely chopped<br \/>\n2\u00bd Tbsps. sesame oil<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. Chinese 5-spice<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp. salt<br \/>\n\u00bc tsp. ground black pepper<br \/>\n3 red onions, cut into wedges<br \/>\n1 cup good quality beef stock<br \/>\n250ml Castle Milk Stout<br \/>\n3 heads baby pak choy, coarsely chopped<br \/>\n4 spring onions, sliced, plus more for serving<br \/>\nUdon noodles<br \/>\n1 red chilli, de-seeded and finely sliced<br \/>\n2 Tbsps. sesame seeds<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Method:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Combine the short ribs, ginger, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, Chinese 5-spice, salt and pepper in a large cast iron pot and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Cook short ribs until browned, then add the onions, stock and Castle Milk Stout and stir to combine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Cover pot with lid and cook on medium heat (a slow simmer is good) for 4-5 hours until the beef is tender.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Remove from heat and stir in the pak choy until the pak choy is just wilted and still bright green. Cover and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Cook udon noodles according to package instructions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Serve noodles in bowls topped with the short ribs and garnish with spring onions, red chilli and sesame seeds.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Want more great Asian-inspired recipes?
