It was another late night getting the final touches right for the relaunch of our category pages. Since PriceCheck launched a year ago, the navigation through the categories has been very simple. Sub categories were displayed as lists and there was not much navigation between them.<\/p>\n
So, we decided that a major overhaul was necessary.<\/p>\n
We needed to improve the cross-navigation across the site using the extensive category structure as a basis for this. We also needed to allow users to browse more easily when at top-level categories, instead of only seeing products from lower-level categories.<\/p>\n
We accomplished all of this, and more. And, in the process, we also improved the page-load time of our homepage dramatically.<\/p>\n
The category pages are now more user-friendly and it’s far easier to find what you want. You can, for example, now see all the most popular digital cameras<\/a> and accessories<\/a> while browsing the top-level Cameras & Photography category<\/a>. <\/p>\n The filters have also been improved, and now, the industry-leading technology is even better. You can also now filter by shop which is a great addition for those of us who have built up a relationship with shops, see this example of LCD TVs sold by eDreams<\/a>. We feel that this is going to be a really useful addition.<\/p>\n You can now also shop by brand. This is an innovative feature that PriceCheck has been lacking. Our brand database has been overhauled and is now very extensive. Try shopping in electronics by brand<\/a>.
