Nokia, Samsung and LG are all releasing new flagship devices this month and Apple is expected to announce 3 new iPhones in September.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re like me and considering getting rid of your current (soon to be old) phone, then there are a few things that you need to do first:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Back up all of your data, including contacts and even your WhatsApp messages (most of these can be backed up to your Cloud Drive &#8211; either Google Drive or iCloud)<\/li>\n<li>Remove the SIM card and microSD card if there&#8217;s one<\/li>\n<li>Log out of services like email, social media, Uber and any banking apps, then clear the data from these apps if you&#8217;re able to.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the serial number and IMEI number (which can be found by dialling *#06# on your phone) of the phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How to factory reset your Android device:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Open your phone&#8217;s Settings app\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Settings\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/MaFcgGsLPzT-1ZPxuS_AhKGDhwE6QjQgjtfCXxKx5znh4zZfWutQ7lHyCz5s8md6ag=w18-h18\" alt=\"Settings\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Depending on the make of Android phone, you&#8217;ll find Backup &amp; reset\u00a0under &#8220;Personal&#8221; or &#8220;Advanced Setting&#8221; or &#8220;General management.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tap\u00a0Factory data reset\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"and then\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/nHFGZ_9xjCh-mP83zMzXQVJF5VYf2n6kwoBIxB2zv3V4VPT4gNTtBye8lYznogLqLPY=w13-h18\" alt=\"and then\" width=\"13\" height=\"18\" \/>\u00a0Reset phone\u00a0.\u00a0You&#8217;ll be prompted to enter your\u00a0PIN, pattern, or password.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>To erase all data from your device&#8217;s internal storage, tap\u00a0Erase everything.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>How to factory reset your iPhone:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings &gt; General &gt; Reset. Then tap Erase All Content and\u00a0Settings.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Before you erase your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 10, make sure that you sign out of iCloud.\u00a0Otherwise, your device might remain in Activation Lock.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In iOS 10.3 or later, go to Settings &gt; [your name]&gt; Sign Out.<\/li>\n<li>In iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings &gt; iCloud &gt; Sign Out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before listing your phone for sale, take photos which show off the best angles of your device. These will help prospective customers make a decision as to whether or not they want to buy it.
