{"id":10722,"date":"2016-05-30T14:50:46","date_gmt":"2016-05-30T12:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.pricecheck.co.za\/?p=10722"},"modified":"2016-05-30T14:51:32","modified_gmt":"2016-05-30T12:51:32","slug":"edible-six-pack-rings-could-help-make-the-oceans-safe-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/blog\/edible-six-pack-rings-could-help-make-the-oceans-safe-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Edible Six-Pack Rings Could Help Make The Oceans Safe Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Our oceans are more polluted now than ever before with ocean wildlife facing\u00a0mass extinction in some parts of the world because of it. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A\u00a0company in Florida hopes to eradicate or at least alleviate the problem by developing a product to reduce the negative impact human pollution has\u00a0on our oceans, and it is all made possible through a six-pack ring.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Six-pack rings and other plastic packaging find their way into the oceans and are often eaten by fish or birds which can ultimately lead to their death. Because of this very reason, Florida-based <em>Saltwater Brewery<\/em>\u00a0came\u00a0up with a simple yet effective idea to combat the devastation\u00a0plastic six-pack rings currently poses on our ocean wildlife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10789\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.pricecheck.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-30-at-12.57.43-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-30 at 12.57.43 PM\" width=\"741\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-30-at-12.57.43-PM.png 954w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-30-at-12.57.43-PM-300x174.png 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-30-at-12.57.43-PM-768x446.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 741px) 100vw, 741px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Saltwater Brewery will be using brewing byproducts (mostly grains) to manufacture biodegradable and edible six-pack rings. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The brewery hopes to eventually expand the edible packaging design to their other canned products and also hopes that other craft breweries start using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pricecheck.co.za\/categories\/5507\/Alternative+Energy\" target=\"_blank\">similar biodegradable packaging.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Experts\u00a0predict that a large portion of sea wildlife could become extinct within our lifetime due to pollution and climate change. Much of the pollution is easily avoidable by changing certain human behaviours such as minimising our use of plastics.
