20926300_m3Everybody dreams of exploring foreign countries but overseas holidays can burn a hole in your wallet. Here are some ways to make your (hard-working) Rand go further:

  1. Travel off-season. You can save yourselves a fair amount if you book your holiday out of peak time. An added bonus is the favourite tourist sites will be less crowded.
  2. Buy flight tickets on PriceCheck . We have the best deals on local and international flights so do yourself a favour and check out the site. Oh, and remember the earlier you book your ticket, the cheaper it will be.
  3. Let the exchange rate work in your favour. Thailand, Mozambique, Nepal and India are more favourable when it comes to our currency than the Greek islands, and your rand will go further in Morocco than it will in Italy. So choose your destination wisely and make sure the exchange rate works in your favour!
  4. Explore on foot. Pack your most comfortable shoes  and explore your favourite destination on foot! Not only will you save on transport costs, you’ll get a much better idea of how the locals live.
  5. Visit the local grocer. Avoid eating out as much as possible and head to the local store – fresh bread, cold meats and cheese are perfect for picnics and will save you a pretty penny.
  6. Book a package deal. Shop around for all-inclusive trips. Not only will it take the stress out of planning your own itinerary, you can find something that suits your budget and avoid unexpected costs when you’re overseas.
