Yesterday, in a move that surprised almost no-one, Apple quietly discontinued the iPod shuffle and iPod nano.
If you head over to Apple’s website, you’ll see that the only iPod now mentioned on the site is the iPod touch, which is essentially an iPhone without the phone.
The shuffle and the nano might have been the two smallest, and arguably most portable, iPods on the market, but they were also the only two without internet 
connectivity with the Shuffle also lacking Bluetooth connectivity meaning that it would not be able to connect to AirPods.
An Apple spokesperson has said: “Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano.”
The iPod touch now comes in 32GB and 128GB storage options, replacing the previous 16GB and 64GB capacities.
You’ll still be able to find the iPod shuffle and nano online and in the iStore in South Africa, but remember that stock is limited and once they eventually run out of stock, that’s it, you’ll have to find a new way to listen to your music on the go.
