Magnificent Mozambique

How to get there:  Maputo International Airport ferries most air travellers in and out of the country.  For the cheapest flights, visit PriceCheck’s website.  And once you’re there you can…

  1. Snorkel on the reefs. Mozambique has some of the most spectacular underwater scenery in Africa so make sure you come well prepared. You will need a swimsuit, snorkel and goggles to explore the aquamarine wonders of Mozambique!
  2. Swim with dolphins in the wild. These playful, intelligent creatures love the waters of Mozambique. Go on an excursion at Ponta do Ouro and get up close and personal with the marvellous mammals as they frolic in the waves.
  3. Eat the local cuisine. Treat your tastebuds to prawns, crayfish and freshly baked Portuguese-style bread. You can buy a vast array of produce from any local with a cooler box and of course it always comes at a “special price, just for you!”
  4. Enjoy the local beers. Mozambique produces two of the most-awarded beers in Africa: Laurentina, which is now also exported to South Africa and the United Kingdom, and 2M which is a popular choice among the tourists. Cheers!
  5. Visit Maputo. The Mozambican capital is a wonderful mix of colonial splendour and raw African energy. Take in the sights and sounds and enjoy a trip to the Central Market, where you can buy practically everything your heart desires.
  6. Visit Ilha de Mozambique. This is a small tropical island located in the north of Mozambique. It is steeped in history and culture and boasts the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Baluarte, the oldest European building in the southern hemisphere.
