Electronic Arts and Maxis announced that The Sims 4 base game will be available to all new players to download for free on PC/Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One systems, from 18 October 2022.
EA and Maxis have welcomed millions of The Sims players over the years. With The Sims 4 base game going free, EA says the team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful experiences for console and PC gamers and will continue to develop and release packs, Kits and Sims Delivery Express drops into the foreseeable future.
Players can learn more about what’s in the works during a special-edition stream, Behind The Sims Summit on 18 October at 7pm CEST via The Sims YouTube channel.
To date, the Sims 4 has received 12 Expansion Packs, 12 Game Packs, 18 Stuff Packs, and 15 Kit Packs. New players will still need to buy them if they want to take advantage of The Sims 4 base game being free. The Sims 4 base game will be free to download for PC and Mac via the EA app, Origin or Steam, as well as the PlayStation and Xbox stores. The great news is, with the savings you get on the base game, you can use that extra cash in your pocket to invest in some premium gaming accessories, like a new gaming headset or a gaming keyboard.
Simmers who have purchased The Sims 4 base game by 17 October will receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift.
