Has Samsung started the post-PC trend?

0

Yesterday, Samsung made a ground breaking announcement that could start a trend. They announced that they no longer will be making desktop PC’s. This should worry businesses like HP, Dell and Acer. According to Samsung they only want to make devices that will continue to stay popular..

“Tablets, all-in-one and hybrid PCs are Samsung’s current focus. Samsung is speeding up its restructuring of its PC business via product realignment toward profitable variants,” said another Samsung official.

Suddenly the late Steve Jobs’s post PC world is no longer a random concept and one that only Apple follows. Samsung is inherently becoming a progressive thinking business that leverages common sense and marketing to ensure they stay ahead of their competitors.

Think about the following; Dell and HP have both held onto their PC businesses for too long and are at the moment scrambling to stay alive. Dell is on the way to becoming a private company and HP is looking at selling or restructuring their PC business.

Is Samsung starting a trend? I tend to think so and it should ring alarm bells for other PC manufacturers.
