0

One of the factors defining Twitter are the length of their tweets, strictly limiting each one to 140 characters. But now for the first time since it’s introduction Twitter are altering their tweeting formula.

Twitter are changing up what exactly counts as characters in a tweet, essentially making your tweets longer.

Twitter will be rolling out a new tweet format where GIFs, images, videos and polls will no longer count toward the 140 character tweet limit. This also goes for retweeting and quoting other tweets, as well as quoting Twitter usernames.

No official press release has been issued by Twitter, and there is still speculation as to when they will roll out the new extended tweeting format. Some sources are claiming it could be as of today (20th September), but no changes are in effect yet.
