Besides infrared saunas being the hot new trend (pun intended), they are an exceptional addition to achieving weight-loss goals and boosting your overall health. Well, this is confirmed by the latest research from the Journal of Hypertension.
102 people participated in the study, all of whom suffered from at least one cardiovascular risk. The cardiovascular risks included arterial stiffness, blood-based biomarkers and high blood pressure.
AFTER JUST ONE SAUNA SESSION
The aim of the study was to locate and identify significant impacts of sauna baths on these cardiovascular risk factors. And after just one 30-minute, 73 degrees sauna session, results revealed a substantial drop in blood pressure, arterial stiffness and a change in blood-based biomarkers in all participants.
The study also equated cardiovascular benefits of sauna-bathing to that of other cardiovascular exercises (especially running) which include dilated blood vessel, increased heart rate and strong blood pumping. The only difference is, instead of your body being in an adrenaline pumping, muscle forming mode, your body is in a relaxed and stress-free state.
The Benefits of Sauna Bathing
And of course, when it comes to burning calories, sauna bathing is one of the most effective activities. Many gyms, yoga studios and other facilities are incorporating saunas and heated rooms encourage speedier weight-loss, reduce stress, minimise cellulite and improve flexibility and strength.
