From vinyl records, Betamax cassette tapes and black and white television all the way to Blu-Ray, OLED and smart television; home entertainment has changed drastically over the past few decades.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane with our feline friends and see how home entertainment has changed over the years
Phonographs
Although entertainment has pretty much been around since man figured out how to beat two sticks together in a beat, one of the earliest home entertainment devices is the phonograph which dates back to the 19th century
Vinyl
Record players and vinyl records became first widely available during the 1960s with record stores popping up everywhere selling individual albums and singles. Recently vinyl has enjoyed a comeback due to it’s more raw sound when compared to modern digital recordings.
Television
The first televisions found their way into suburban homes during the 1950s where families would gather around them for a few hours of lo-fi black and white entertainment
Nowadays television has come a long way since it’s humble beginnings, with thousands of different channels from all across the globe being instantly accessible thanks to satellite and smart TV services.
Compact Discs
Compact discs, or CDs, started being used in the early 1990s as a replacement for cassette tapes and computer hard discs. Nowadays, CDs include Blu-Rays, DVDs and video games
Gaming
The earliest gaming consoles were the 8-bit Nintendo consoles that were available in the 1980s. Since them gaming has undergone the changes in terms of graphics and gameplay, moving away from cartridges to CDs, and finally to Blu-Ray discs.
And there you have it, all of the milestones in home entertainment! We hope you had fun, goodbye until next time.
