Nintendo’s iconic Game Boy continues to be one of the most popular handheld devices around despite being officially retired nearly a decade ago. And if you’re feeling nostalgic for some quality 8-bit gaming but aren’t fortunate enough to have a working Game Boy laying around then we have some good news for you.

The Super Retro Boy has all the heart and soul of the original Game Boy, and it’s arriving later this year.

The Super Retro Boy was on display at this year’s CES as a working prototype where it proved itself an instant hit. Those who tested the device were pleased with the familiar look and feel that the Super Retro Boy to the original Game Boy. But don’t think that the Super Retro Boy is nothing more than a Game Boy clone; the new device comes packed with modern upgrades like a 10-hour battery and a backlit display.

Another cool feature is that the Super Retro Boy will be able to play old Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Colour games, so if you have any laying around it’s time to dust off those old cartridges!

The Super Retro Boy goes on sale in the U.S in the August this year for $80, so if the console ever hits S.A shores we can probably expect a pricetag from anywhere between R1 000 – R1 500.
