Whether you’re hitting Paris or Perth, New York or Nagasaki, London or Lima or Amsterdam or Alabama. Or indeed, if you’re planning to go to any of our own big cities. If you’re going to take a jaunt in Jozi, kickback in Cape Town or get down and dirty in Durbs – PriceCheck knows what you need.
- An umbrella. Because it can rain. A lot. Even when it isn’t supposed to.
- Universal adaptor. Nobody wants to be the person who blows the power in the hostel or hotel trying to wiggle a three-prong plug into a European outlet. Get a universal adaptor and take it everywhere with you.
- Safe lock. Most hotels and guesthouses have safes in their rooms – but you’ve heard the stories about how easy the locks are to override. Go armed with your own lock and have the luxury of peace of mind when you go exploring.
- A moonbag. They may not be chic but they’re essential in cities where pick-pocketers are pros. To be doubly safe, wear it under your shirt.
- Walking shoes. Because hitting the pavements is the best way to explore any city. But remember, walk them in first. No one wants blisters on holiday!
- Backpack. Leave the chic stuff for the evening and invest in something you can sling over your shoulders and store all sorts of day-tripping essentials in. It’s especially handy when you’re holidaying with babies or toddlers – a good backpack is a great nappy/bottle/wipes holder too.
- Speaking of kids… you’ll need a good carrier for the little guy or girl. Invest in a sturdy, well-padded one that will make a comfortable ride for your tot and is light and comfortable for you to carry too.
- Windbreaker. A great buy for in-between weather and blustery days. The hood will help keep you dry if you forget your brolly in the hotel.
- A strong set of luggage. This is an excellent investment to make and could last you a lifetime. If you choose from the same range you have the added advantage of all your luggage looking the same – which means it’s easier to spot on the carousels at airports.
