Sony Electronics has announced the launch of its new Extra Bass wireless speaker line-up in South Africa. According to Sony, the new range, which is made up of the SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33 and SRS-XB23 speakers, features superb sound quality, toughness and usability, all housed in refreshed new designs. Designed to offer South African music lovers deep, punchy bass in a durable, refreshed look, this range is sure to appeal to anyone who wants to enjoy their favourite music the way artists’ intended.
A new-look speaker unit
Perhaps the most striking new feature of the Extra Bass wireless XB speaker range is the design of the speaker unit itself. Featuring Sony’s newly developed X-Balanced Speaker Unit, the speakers in the new Extra Bass look and sound different from their predecessors. Engineered to achieve high sound quality and powerful sound pressure for a richer, deeper and more rewarding listening experience, Sony’s X-Balanced Speaker Unit has a non-circular shape, which works to maximise the area of the speaker diaphragm and increase sound pressure for more punchy bass. Sony says the design also helps to reduce driver excursion while maintaining the same sound pressure, resulting in less distortion, while still keeping the speakers compact in size.
The Extra Bass wireless XB speakers’ two-way speaker system combines a woofer for low to mid frequencies with a dedicated tweeter for the higher range frequencies. This results in powerful sound, deep punchy bass and exceptional vocal clarity.
Take your music anywhere
The speakers in the Extra Bass wireless XB range are also waterproof, dustproof, rustproof, shockproof and saltwater resistant, with a IP67 rating, enabling you to take the party to the beach, camping, or even wherever your wanderlust may take you. Sony claims that the new range is not only designed to withstand the inevitable knocks, bumps and scrapes that come with everyday use but also the clumsiest of accidents or unintentional drops. “The speakers are designed to keep working, no matter what’s thrown at them,” said Sony in a recent press release.
A new Party Connect feature enables users to connect up to 100 compatible wireless speakers, using Bluetooth to sync the music so everyone dances to the same beat. The speakers also have a Live Sound mode feature, which produces a three-dimensional experience, so music sounds as though it’s being played live by the artist.
The new speaker line-up comes in a wide range of colours with a refreshed design, perfectly complementing any space. Thanks to a compact, lightweight and easy to carry design, the XB23 fits perfectly into a backpack pocket or the cupholder of a camping chair. It also features a convenient strap to hang it from a tent or tree during a weekend camping trip.
With a battery life of up to 24 hours, Sony’s new speakers are equipped to keep the party going all day long. The rechargeable speakers feature a USB-Type-C charging port as well as a USB Type-A port to connect and charge their smartphone on-the-go. With wireless connection using both Bluetooth and NFC, it’s never been easier to listen to your favourite music when and where you want.
