PS5: New Details & Release Date Revealed

0

There have been a few rumours circulating the internet about Sony’s upcoming next-gen console, but the Japanese company have now provided some fresh information on the mysterious Playstation 5.

In a post official Playstation blog, Sony said that the next Playstation will be called the Playstation 5, confirming the numerical name pattern as opposed to some of the other titular rumours that were floating around.

Sony added that the PS5 will arrive for “Holiday 2020”, which would assume that it would arrive in Q4 of next year, specifically November or December.

Sony also revealed that the controller would receive an upgrade, as haptic technology (touch feedback) will be implemented, replacing the rumble feature which has been around since the DualShock 2 introduced on the Playstation 2.

Additionally, the new controllers will feature “Adaptive Triggers”, meaning that developers could adjust the resistance and feedback on L2 and R2 trigger buttons, such as adding extra tension when pulling a bow versus a gun trigger in a game, for example.

As for the UI, the PS5 is set to receive a full overhaul of the interface, allowing players to jump from the Playstation dashboard straight into specific portions of games, such as single-player or a multiplayer match, rather than sifting through multiple menus.

These details are the second batch of info we’ve received on the next-gen console, with the first being the specs and graphical capabilities that the PS5 will feature. Rumours suggest that the PS5 could come with a built-in camera designed specifically for streaming, but take that with a pinch of salt for the meantime.

Expect a full reveal of the Playstation 5 in early-mid 2020.
