Chinese technology brand Oppo has announced the launch of the Oppo A74 5G smartphone in South Africa. The latest A-Series smartphone to be introduced into the market offers an affordable device with top-notch features. Oppo says this latest release showcases the brand’s commitment to developing technology that does more, costs less, and is still aesthetically pleasing. Here’s what you can expect from this new release.
The A74 boasts a 90Hz Hyper-colour screen for a more immersive user experience with vibrant colours. The A74 offers a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio, providing a sleeker design with seamless touch screen interactions. Plus, for the first time in South Africa, Oppo is also introducing its All-day AI Eye Comfort, which allows for automatic screen colour and brightness adjustment dependent on the user’s surroundings. This technology helps to reduce eye fatigue when using the device for extended periods of time.

With a 5000mAh 18W fast charge battery, Oppo says the device allows for multi-day usage on a single charge. The device features a 16MP front camera and a 48MP rear camera with the ability to capture 108MP photos through software upscaling.
The device offers 6GB on-board memory and 128GB storage and houses Oppo’s ColorOS, with Android 11 and a Qualcomm processing chip.
Available in Fluid Black, the device joins 5 Oppo smartphone models available in South Africa, including the Oppo Reno5 5G which launched in March.
The Oppo A74 5G will be available in South Africa at a recommended retail price of R7,499.
