Every once and a while, someone or a manufacturer does something really different in comparison to the norm of their industry. Apple has done it a few times with their various product lines (especially the iPhone and iPad) and then there are start-ups like Lytro who push the boundaries with regards to technology. The point I am trying to make is that many companies irrespective of their size, push the boundaries to ensure a unique experience for their users.
The latest addition to this group is Nikon. They have added 2 new lines of cameras that are going to push boundaries in my opinion. The J1& V1 ranges I think are aimed at users who want to capture lifestyle images on the go without any limitations.

From Nikon, a company with more than 75 years in imaging excellence, the Nikon 1 J1 is an advanced camera with interchangeable lenses that opens the door to a fresh way to capture pictures and High Definition (HD) movies. This Nikon 1 system represents a new category of camera that challenges conventional thinking, emphasizing a pocketable form factor with unbelievable speed, combined with the high image quality that only Nikon could create.
