Meet The New 360-Degree Camera From Facebook

0

Only a few weeks following the release of the Facebook-owned Oculus VR headset, the social media giant have unveiled a camera capable of shooting 360-degree footage. The camera itself will be built using 14 individual cameras along the rim, a single fisheye camera facing up, and two more pointing down.

The camera will come with enough resolution to shoot video in 4K, 6K and even 8K, along with being 3D stereoscopic compatible.

Afterwards you’ll be able to upload the video to various social media platforms using Facebook developed software.

Along with the Oculus Rift, it seems Facebook is looking to spearhead VR technology, 360-degree video recording and bringing it all into the world of social sharing.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Facebook won’t be launching an actual camera for sale, but will rather be releasing plans on how to build the camera.

The plans are set for release sometime mid-year through GitHub.
