Lenovo is a company making waves in notebooks especially for corporate use. I find it interesting that Lenovo is the company that most corporates are willing to acquire products from. You may wonder why. Remember that Lenovo is based in China and in most cases businesses have trust issues with Chinese companies.
Lenovo has gone into a space that is largely defined by aerospace and vehicle manufacturing companies. They have unveiled a notebook that is made by Carbon fiber. Yes, that technological breakthrough that enables designs to be made custom and be very performance orientated. For those not sure, carbon fiber is used by Formula one teams to build their cars. The carbon fiber has replaced aluminium construction normally seen in notebooks.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is unique and understated. The fact that the notebook is constructed with carbon fiber freaks me out – as I am picturing an accident that leads to the notebook in a thousand pieces. The understated refers to the fact that the X1 Carbon looks like a normal notebook on the outside but the difference is seen with weight and how it performs. This notebook is a response from Lenovo to the new ultrabooks that are seen in the market from Apple and others.
According to Lenovo the notebook has the following features:

- Dolby Home Theater v4 and Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, for rich sound and vision
- Share connectivity with Mobile Hotspot technology
- Best-in-class keyboard, with progressive backlighting and larger island-style keys
- Glass multi-gesture touchpad
- InstantResume wakes from hibernate nearly four times faster than other laptops
- Ports include (one each) of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed, always-on USB 2.0, Mini DisplayPort with audio, and 4-in-1 SD Card reader
The question that all gadget fans are going to ask; is the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon a one hit wonder or a sign of the future for Ultrabooks? Secondly; is this the ultimate notebook or what?
