The last few weeks have been pretty dramatic for Apple. They launched their new iPad called the “iPad Air” and word is they are working on a bigger 12” tablet. I think it is inevitable that we will see Apple making an iPad Air and iPad Pro range of tablets. The reason why? I think Apple are realizing that they need to build a category that is to replace their notebooks that are no longer selling at large volumes.
The biggest change Apple made was offering OS X Mavericks for free. It can be seen as a major slap on the wrist for Microsoft, who historically made a large amount of their money on licensing and sales of operating systems. Suddenly, this change will factor in customers needing to buy new notebooks and desktop computers. Why do I spend money on an operating system when I can get one for free?
It is clear that Apple under Tim Cook is a completely different company and are thinking for the future. These changes that Apple have made and will make is going to ensure that they stay at the leading edge of the tablet industry.
