AMD – the slow move downwards?

0

When the news broke in the middle of this month that Amazon is considering buying Texas Instruments, it made me realise that hardware is quickly becoming a must have for manufacturers.  Microsoft is slowly headed in this direction.  Apple has been doing this for a few years but all these manufacturing companies are reliant on partners.

Intel has a well documented relationship with Microsoft but think about it; do any other CPU manufacturers have something similar? Apple might be a candidate due to their relationship with ARM but AMD seems to be the odd one out.

Let me be clear, the computer industry needs a strong AMD as that would ensure Intel continues to innovate. It would also ensure that the consumer has a choice when purchasing a CPU. However the truth is far from the above. The last 12 months AMD has lost market share to Qualcomm, ARM and Intel due to tablet computing. So is the end in sight for AMD?
