Samsung has unveiled a cheaper, more improved version of its flip-phone, the Galazy Z Flip 3. The next iteration of its flip-phone resurrection was revealed at the company’s recent Unpacked event. Here’s everything you need to know about the device coming to South Africa.
The Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 is the third revision of the foldable phone that the South Korean company has been trying to perfect for the past few years. This time around it’s looking like a truly viable option for tech lovers wanting to invest in the nostalgia of it all.

The device features a 6.7-inch display when fully open, and can essentially fold in half, making it very portable and minimal to carry. Furthermore, it features a smaller 1.9-inches display on the back that can be used when the device is in ‘closed mode’. It houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chip paired with 8GB RAM, so it’s also packing a decent punch for its rather small size.
There are two 12MP cameras on the rear, with a 10MP pinhole camera in the screen for selfies and video-calls. It is also 5G compatible and includes a fingerprint sensor on the side of the device. The device includes a 3,300mAh battery, which is a bit smaller than the battery on the average smartphone today, but it’s a sacrifice many will be willing to make, given the form factor.
Two storage options are available: 128 and 256GB models, and the device is available in cream, green, lavender, black, grey, pink, and white colour options.
