Leading us into the holiday season, there are a few exciting films hitting cinemas this month, including a World War II zombie adventure, a spell-binding sequel, and a biographical epic of one rock’s greatest names.
Overlord
Releasing 9th November
Tired of simply playing Zombie Nazi mode on Call of Duty? Don’t worry – Overlord is the movie fix you need! With D-Day impending during the second World War, American paratroopers descend into a Nazi-occupied France under the impression they’re only there for a routine military mission. After stumbling on a suspicious underground lab, they soon realise all is not well and an insane, adrenaline-fueled zombie-eradicating purge unfolds.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
Releasing 16th November
Considering the impressive success of the first Harry Potter spin-off featuring Newt Scamander, it’s no surprise that a second came quickly in its wake. After the capers of the first, the sequel introduces some famed characters from the parent franchise, most notably younger versions of Albus Dumbledore and one-time friend Gellert Grindelwald. Their tumultuous meeting was briefly discussed in the books, but Fantastic Beasts 2 will build further on that relationship and explore the wider world of Magic in the Harry Potter universe. Potterheads are undoubtedly chewing their nails in anticipation, but this will be a fun ride for anyone after a magical adventure.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Releasing 30th November
Queen is without a doubt one of the most iconic musical groups ever – with a list of hit songs longer than most feature length albums. It’s quite a surprise that a blockbuster biopic hasn’t really been attempted until now, but in Rami Malek, they’ve found their Freddie Mercury, capable of pulling off the famed frontman’s personality and ability. Fans of the band, music in general, or dramatic biographies will definitely want to check out this emotional rollercoaster. From immeasurable highs to devastating lows, the trajectory of one of pop music’s best bands ever isn’t to be missed.
